A rogue parakeet landed in our next-door-neighbors’ driveway, after apparently surviving several days on my sunflowers alongside the resident magpie populous. Obviously not a native species, we captured him (the girls tell me his facial markings indicate he’s a male) and reunited him with his worried owners– thanks to social media.

A field trip to the local salt water aquarium retailer wrapped up our cnidarian unit of marine biology, with a fascinating abundance of anemones and bio-luminescent soft corals to observe.

We failed to capture wild, native turtles to re-home in our backyard pond. We will try again.

And finally, meet Garfield. He’ll be coming home from Oregon with us from a friend’s farm. We actually don’t know which of the two he is yet, we will choose when we meet them. I suspect it will be like Sophie’s choice.
