What to Read Wednesday: All the Things

Spring rains have ceased and the sun has been luminous all week. We’ve been swamped with birthdays, theatre productions, choir concerts, and tball; yet we’ve managed to find time to squeeze in reading for pleasure.

on the trampoline in a sunbeam, the critters came flocking to listen like I was the Pied Piper

TBH, as resident chauffeur to the aforementioned activities my own reading life is thriving– gone are the guilt-laden days of sneaking page at a time from the margins of busy-life. I’m finding prime book-worming time on the sidelines and in the car, indulging in leisurely solitude as I wait on the kids, so long as I keep options handy…

I finished The Very Worst Missionary, a Memoir or Whatever. Jamie was honest and raw and real, just like her blog. Light-hearted and delightfully crass, it’s like People magazine for Christians. Good stuff.

I purchased Andy Weir’s (of Martian fame)’s second book, Artemis, for Husband at Christmas and finally stole it. It’s evident from his writing that he’s aiming for another film deal. The story is similarly ripe with futuristic technology and science, set on a lunar colony.

I’m presently enjoying Bob Goff’s latest, Everybody Always. (His first book, Love Does, is one of my favorites to gift.) This is proving equally uplifting, bite-size anecdotes to put a smile on your face and compel you to action.

Aloud to the kiddos we finished the first book of the Mysterious Benedict Society series, and are onto the second: The Perilous Journey. I can’t recommend these intelligent, adventure-filled books enough– the text has prompted many a side-step into morse code, riddles, and most recently nautical terminology.

we cracked the code to learn Mr. Benedict’s first name, can you?

Lemon juice, the original invisible ink. Perhaps we’ll start our own mysterious society.

What are you reading? What should I add to my (never-ending) list?
