This week’s What to Read Wednesday is all about dInOsAuRs!
My family just had a close encounter with some over the weekend…
Our home library contains a classic sing-songy Cat in the Hat glossary of the prehistoric giants, plus a science-y book from a Christian perspective:
Whenever I think dinosaurs I think of Jules Verne’s epic Journey to the Center of the Earth, which the kids and I read aloud just last year.
Still, Michael Crichton’s scarring Jurassic Park is clearly the stand-out… I keenly recall attending the 1993 film on opening day as a middle-schooler alongside my family, but I’ve yet to read the book. Fun fact: We’ve since realized that Husband attended the exact same showing at the exact same theater, long before we knew of each other, and I like to imagine we shared an armrest, star-crossed lovers that we were. My brother-in-law channels LeVar Burton when this title comes up, having worn the spine right out of his TWO COPIES when he was our girls’ age– we’ve heeded his advice and reserved several copies at the local library to pick up and begin aloud today.
So many books, so little time. We just finished Lois Lowry’s The Giver yesterday and are planning a movie screening of the film version for the weekend, as is our custom.
And now for the link up!
