In an attempt at ignoring my recent rounded, rather large birthday, I suggested to Handsome Husband that we sneak away with the kids for a bit of adventure. He upped the ante and booked us a road-trip to the Biggest Little City in the World and the third largest lake in the nation.
we bopped back and forth over the Nevada/California state-line during our extended weekend of exploring pulled into Reno’s neon lights after dark,
with fireworks being launched from the roof of a nearby casinoturns out Circus Circus holds up to my childhood nostalgia had a blast in the arcades and midway games Husband won this giant stuffed elephant the girls named him Ratthew AYCE birthday soosh spent a scorchin’ afternoon at a waterpark in Sparks that I’d visited as a kid my actual birthday was spent geeking out in historic mountain mining town Virginia City there’s something decidedly sentimental about the creaky, wavy boardwalk, the slightly askew, never-level storefronts coated in a century of chipping paint, and the dusty dry heat that envelopes you the backs of the buildings were almost more impressive than the fronts, IMO from there we trekked over the mountainridge into the Lake Tahoe basin
It was the loveliest non-birthday birthday getaway. I’m so grateful for our adventurous little family and God’s great wonders to explore.
