Twenty years ago I promised to have and to hold this handsome fella. Score! We were young and madly in love, and after the officiant proclaimed “you may kiss your bride” I tried to steal a second smooch, to the amusement of the entire congregation.
Two decades later, I’m still a smitten-kitten and always eager to steal an extra smooch. As we’ve weathered “good times and bad” we’ve cleaved together by God’s grace and fallen deeper in love.
To celebrate our milestone anniversary we zipped off to Maui for a bit of a second honeymoon. Because we wanted to share the vacation with our kiddos, we also brought along Husband’s folks so we could still sneak away for some romantic time– the best of both worlds.
Husband booked us a comfy condo in a setting so lush it felt like a botanical garden Firstborn, of couse, befriended all the resident critters chickens evvverywhere mostly we spent our days on the many miles of Maui beaches in time out for punching me in the nose– I was pretending to be a stalking shark and he recalled his homeschool lesson on their “ampullae of lorenzi”… can’t be too mad at that! and snorkeling alongside the sea turtles i love his freckles our fearless captain navigated the treacherous road to Hana “Parrots Beak” plants, don’t they look like birds? rainbow eucalyptus Center Sister turned 14 on our trip, so we enjoyed a day of shopping–
which included shucking a pearl (her birthstone) from an oystersushi birthday dinner husband also drove us 10k feet up a volcano, to the summit & crater of Haleakala me trying not to barf from fear of heights the sunset was glorious last look before heading home Mahalo Maui & cheers to 20 years!
