This week’s What to Read Wednesday is all about fire safety. It’s a timely topic as I recently took the kiddos to a fun public safety fair at the local fire station. It’s also one I’m passionate about as my sister’s house right next door burned to the ground in the middle of the night seven years ago. Because of her husband’s heroism and God’s protection they escaped with their lives, but everything else –including beloved pets– perished in the smoke and flames.
I’m convinced that being prepared by reading and talking about fire safety with your kids is what saves lives in an emergency– the six miraculous blue eyeballs next door are proof of that.
Of course I’d be remiss to omit a house favorite: the fire-surviving Beaudelaire kids from Lemony Snicket, fire safety a recurring theme throughout his Series of Unfortunate Events.
