What to Read Wednesday: Present Stacks

This week’s official WTRW theme is monsters, but that’s not really our jam, and since we’ve no shortage of books in both our currently reading and to be read stacks, I’ll simply update with what we’re enjoying presently– lest the public library hunt me down, recover their property, and strip me of borrowing privileges.

Aloud: Still presently savoring the rich prose in Alcott’s Little Men, one meaty chapter at a time. Next up is Jeanne Birdsall’s The Penderwicks, which comes highly recommended and I managed to nab at our last library visit.

Solo: Esperanza Rising for the kids, though I suspect I’ll take a turn when they’re through; A Tree Grows in Brooklyn for me, though after previewing might pass along to Firstborn; next up for moi: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine.

Cinematic adaptations*:
We’re seeing the A Wrinkle in Time movie this Friday with pals, having recently read and adored the timeless “good versus evil” modern classic. I’m still on pins and needles for the film debut of Ready Player One later this month, a book Husband & I both read this fall and L-O-V-E loved; here’s hoping the storyline remains kid-friendly after Hollywood has it’s way with it. Over the weekend I completed The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society, which also comes to theaters in May.

*After all, I unapologetically love film & cinema– let the record show I was nearly 100% with my Oscar picks over the weekend. (I chose Get Out for Best Director, but he won for screenplay– which is what I think I actually meant.)
