We spent the extended Thanksgiving weekend fighting an angry head-cold and decking the halls.
Lacking boughs of holly, we opted instead for a single, stout Douglas Fir. Hoping to avoid further provocation of Husband’s man-cold, he shirked lumberjack duty and shamefully reluctantly purchased our conifer from a parking lot.
To be frank, the ones grown here in Montana tend to be a bit… Charlie Brown, anyway. We chuckled realizing our lush, symmetrical tree was likely shipped from our home state.
It’s Little Man’s first legit Christmas tree, really– last year with our former home staged and on the market we kept things minimal with a wimpy faux tabletop version. (major Oregonian no-no)
In keeping with our treasured tradition, our 2015 family keepsake ornament is Mickey Mouse, representing our fun family vacation to Disneyworld back in May.
Rocking out to Christmas tunes, we blew Little Man’s mind informing him that Darth Vader [James Earl Jones] was the vocalist in The Grinch song. He now asks if it’s him singing every Christmas carol that comes on Pandora.
We’ll now commence festivities in earnest, namely via the rest of our favorite Christmas traditions: the kids’ annual gingerbread house decorating party, Christmas Eve jammies, and Christmas-morning birthday cake for Jesus. We also plan to try out a couple of new ones.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…
Hail the Heaven-born Prince of Peace, hail the Son of Righteousness!
