Yesterday we celebrated the US of A’s Independence Day. As a mother to and daughter of immigrants (by way of China and Canada, respectively) I’m especially grateful to reside in the land of the free– of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
As with any birthday —and true to the prevailing theme on our new street— there was cake…
Just kidding. Of course I didn’t. Much Older Sister baked obvi.
“When in the course of human events…” We snuck the teensiest bit of edu-ma-cation in amongst the pyrotechnics and picnicking, having the kiddos write out a good portion of the Declaration of Independence on the driveway. (because: #homeschool)
We enjoyed connecting with old friends and collecting candy at a patriotic small-town parade.
The kids supported the local high-school marching band by purchasing fireworks.
Happy 241st birthday, ‘Merica!
