Our Jane Austen School for Headstrong, Obstinate Girls

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single homeschool in possession of a good literature & language arts curriculum, must be in want of the works of Jane Austen.

We are presently engrossed in her classic brit lit.

Our faithful formula of 1) screening the film, 2) reading the book, and 3) rewatching the film & all accompanying adaptations, has proven fruitful and made our reading come alive. I can scarcely wait until our local ECD [English Country Dance]s resume and we can indulge in proper late 18th-century soirees.

Unsurprisingly, Austen’s tomes have been an ideal indulgence to sustain us through social distancing… after all, she was famously quoted as musing: “There is nothing like staying home for real comfort.”
