What to Read Wednesday: Little Golden Books

Warning: Nostalgia alert! Do these glistening, golden spines transport you right back to your youth?

Little Golden Books are a timeless fixture of many a childhood. Goldilocks and the Three Bears, the Saggy Baggy Elephant, counting books, baby animals, Bible tales, and my personal favorite —made legendary by Great Grandma Schafer— The Pokey Little Puppy. Ours has a prominent, permanent station atop our home-library shelves, volumes gifted new to our kids while some were passed down as heirlooms. Full of sentimentality, and mercifully affordable, they make a classic, keepsake baby gift.
