O is for the Great Outdoors

I’m blogging through the alphabet with some fellow homeschool bloggers… this week we’re on the letter O.

In our homeschool, O is for the great Outdoors. Obviously! There’s nothing like fresh air and time in nature to keep our heads clear (and ripe for learning) and attitudes in check. Though we recently traded our mountainous countryside oasis for a temporary urban apartment, we’ve still managed to get our daily doses of time in God’s creation for our collective sanity.

Just last week we zipped south a ways to enjoy the splendor of the local tulip fields in bloom. Though we were only away from Oregon for five years, it’s been more like ten since we visited the annual Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival. The weather was outstanding, with blue skies and sunshine breaking through the spring rain-showers. The result was quite muddy, but we didn’t mind– I suspect the mud actually added to the fun for Little Man.

even snuck the tiniest bit of education into our day, observing a local artisan hand carve wooden shoes— note his own footwear

Throwback pic of the girls, as babies, the last time we’d visited (with their cousin):

Heaps of thanks to Bestie Courtney for joining us on a simple, renewing adventure in the great outdoors!
